Say 'no' to disposable emails.
The Real eMail checkeR
All the FAQ:
- Prerequisites?
You need to have:- Write access to the html/php file containing the form with the textfield for the email entry.
- Write access to the folder in which the above file sits - to create a new php file.
- The whole on a webserver with PHP.
- Which type of domains are blocked by ReMailR?
Only 'disposable' or completely anonymous (without passwords) email services are blocked. E.g.:- Forwarders like spamgourmet.com or jetable.org
Emails are forwarded to the users real address. Forwards are limited in time or number. The email address expires. - Completely anonymous like mailinator.com
Anyone can check any email @mailinator.com - no password needed and any address 'exists'.
- Forwarders like spamgourmet.com or jetable.org
- Why use a central server? I'm good with PHP/MySQL myself. This is easy to implement.
Implementation is easy. The hard part is to keep the list of blocked email domains up to date. By using ReMailR you ensure that you are always using the most complete list. - How can I use this? What are the options?
It's really simple. There is a page with instructions and a page with all the options explained. - How much does it cost?
It's free.
- What's with the little 'ReM' link next to the textfield?
It leads to the 'about' ReMailR page. It explains the field's behavior to the interested user and it's a way of making the service more widely known. - Browser support?
Javascript needs to be allowed. ReMailR makes an ajax call to verify the email addresses. Therefore only browsers which support this can be used - but that's more than 99%. - I don't like the textfield - can I query the database directly and implement my own textfield?
Sure. When you callhttp://remailr.com/api/remailr_ajax_call.php?q=testing@mailinator.com
you'll get back a xml text file. The tag you'll be interested in is <result>. The value will be 0 for good addresses and 1 for bad.
I'd just ask you to place the same small ReM link or an equivalent next to your textfield. - How can I help?
You know of a disposable email service, which is not yet blocked by ReMailR? Use the small form here to tell me about it and I'll include it asap. - Other questions, remarks, etc.?
I'm also protective of my email address. So please use the comments of the article describing this service on my blog to contact me.
